I stayed in a hotel by myself last night. I had a dream that I was in the same hotel building and the room I was in messed up so I went to a different room that looked identical to the one I was actually in.
In the dream I went to bed crying about momma being gone. I woke up to a knock on the door and thought oh the house keeper must not know this room is occupied now and before I could get up I saw my mom walk past the foot of my bed towards me and started to bend over to touch me with dinosaur like Brant arms. She was in a yellow night gown but she was a lot taller and bigger. Like her mom’s size. She was walking fast but so heavy and just overall creepy. I didn’t look at her face but I knew something was wrong and I knew her face looked demonic. I tried to pull the covers over my head. I woke up trying to scream Michael’s (my boyfriend’s) name
Dreams like yours can be quite unsettling, and they often reflect an interplay of emotions, subconscious fears, and personal experiences. Here's a detailed interpretation of your dream:
-
Hotel Setting:
- Familiar Environment: Hotels are places of temporary residence and can symbolize a transitional phase or period of change in life. Since you were staying alone, it can also reflect feelings of solitude or independence.
- Room Transition: Moving to a different, identical room suggests a desire for consistency and familiarity during periods of change or uncertainty. It might also indicate a feeling of being stuck or seeing repetitive patterns in your life.
-
Crying About “Momma Being Gone”:
- Emotional Pain: This likely represents feelings of loss, longing, or unresolved grief. If your mother has passed away or you’re currently experiencing a distance from her, this is a manifestation of missing her presence and maternal support.
- Processing Grief: Crying in dreams can also be a form of release for pent-up emotions that you may not fully express in waking life.
-
Unexpected Visitor:
- Knocking and Mother’s Appearance: The knock at the door suggests an intrusion into your personal space or a disruption in your emotional equilibrium. It might symbolize an unexpected situation or realization.
- Mother Appearing in a Distorted Form: The presence of your mother transformed into a more formidable, eerie figure could represent feelings of fear or anxiety about aspects of her personality or traits you associate with her. Her transformation suggests something misunderstood or not fully acknowledged concerning your relationship with her or memories of her.
-
Dinosaur-like “Brant Arms”:
- Unnatural and Creepy: This imagery can represent feelings of being overwhelmed by something that should be familiar and comforting. It could also reflect perceptions of time, evolution, and personal history, as dinosaurs often symbolize ancient or long-standing issues.
-
Yellow Nightgown:
- Color Symbolism: Yellow can symbolize caution, decay, or sometimes deceit, but it can also represent a longing for happiness or enlightenment. It can denote mixed feelings about your relationship with your mother or your past experiences with her.
-
Trying to Hide and Calling Out:
- Avoidance: Pulling the covers over your head suggests a desire to hide from or ignore problematic emotions or realities.
- Calling Out Michael’s Name: This indicates a need for protection and support, especially from those you trust and feel safe with. Michael's presence represents stability and security, and you may be seeking both comfort and reassurance from him.
Overall Interpretation:
This dream reflects emotional turmoil related to feelings of loss, unresolved issues with your mother (or maternal figure), and a need for familiarity and reassurance during uncertain times. It suggests you might be grappling with unresolved grief or fear concerning personal relationships, and you're seeking a comforting presence to help navigate these emotions.
Reflecting on current events in your life or any recent changes might help to piece together why your mind is processing these emotions through your dreams. Engaging in conversations with loved ones and exploring these thoughts consciously can provide cathartic relief and clarity.
